We were due to have our Active School Week next week commencing 27/4/20. We hoped to raise our Active Flag which we were awarded in February next week but this will be rearranged at a later date. This year, because of COVID-19, it is not possible for Active Schools Week to go ahead so we are inviting families in our school to participate in the ‘Active HOME Week‘ challenge instead. This is a nationwide event.
The aim of this initiative is to motivate young people to be active at home by trying out new activities, taking on challenges and having fun with family activities. To complete the challenge young people have to find four ways of being active every day making sure that this adds up to 60 minutes or more, of physical activity. All members of the family are encouraged to take on the challenge together.
There are 4 challenges each day. Encourage children to engage in as many challenges each day and continue to raise awareness about the fact that children need at least 60 minutes of physical activity every day.
Follow the link below for the challenge chart which you can fill out with your family….
Challenge 1 each day will be available on the Active Schools page on the school website www.crosshavenbns.com and on the School App. It will be uploaded and available by 9.00am each day
Challenge 2 will be a Seesaw activity assigned by the class teacher by 9.00am
Challenge 3 & 4 will be activities that the children pick themselves. To help the children to pick activities there is an ideas cloud available. Please click the link below.
We hope that everyone enjoys Active Home Week and we are encouraging children to find NEW ways of being physically active that they ENJOY.
