Ten of our fourth class hurlers headed to Riverstick on Wednesday, February 10th to take part in an indoor hurling blitz. The boys were very excited heading off and couldn’t wait to get started. The first game ended in victory for Crosshaven when they beat Belgooly 3-1. The winning streak continued with two more triumphs in the group stages. The game against Innishannon was a very close encounter. Crosshaven has the narrowest of leads, 2-1, as the final whistle was blown. This win ensured them a semi-final spot against Bandon.

A tough match lay ahead and the boys didn’t disappoint, battling hard and winning 5-3. Another Belgooly team awaited us in the final and buoyed on by great team work and performances all morning, the Crosshaven boys were ready to take on the strong opponents. Some excellent skills were on display from both teams. The excitement was non-stop from beginning to end. The scores were level at the final whistle so extra time kicked in. Determined to see their hard work pay off, Crosshaven continued to fight. When the goal came, Crosshaven could hardly contain their elation but they steadied on and some excellent defensive moves kept the boys going. This encouraged them to drive forward and give their best until the final whistle was blown. Victory on the day has ensured Crosshaven BNS a spot in the county finals in the coming weeks. A huge thank you to Mr.Lyons for all his hard work and effort in preparing the boys, who have immensely enjoyed learning new skills and improving over the past number of weeks.

Best of luck in the county finals!
